Spokane, WA — Following a competitive bid process, Spokane Colleges have selected BibliU to deliver a new, student-first course materials program and modernize campus store operations, expanding affordable, flexible access for learners across Eastern Washington.
Serving Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College, and supporting nearly 20,000 learners, the partnership reflects the District’s priority of securing a forward-looking partner capable of delivering high-quality service and reducing costs for students.
Spokane Colleges entered this evaluation with a clear goal: reduce costs for students while preserving the flexibility and autonomy that faculty and students value. As strong adopters of digital course materials, the Colleges sought an approach that could lower expenses, improve first-day readiness, and expand access—without disrupting what was already working.
While Spokane Colleges had successfully operated under a student-choice model without an access program, the evaluation ultimately revealed that BibliU Access could deliver even greater flexibility and value. Through this program, students receive the most affordable and accessible version of required materials on Day 1—directly through Canvas—while retaining full freedom to opt out or select an alternate format.
The transition builds on the Colleges’ existing digital momentum, supports faculty continuity, and ensures students start each term fully prepared. In a quarter-based academic calendar, this first-day readiness helps close equity gaps in course access and gives faculty a dependable, consistent system that keeps pace with instruction.“We are excited about this opportunity to work with BibliU to serve students in a new way,” said Linda McDermott, Spokane Colleges Chief Financial Officer. “This partnership strengthens our commitment to enhancing affordability, expanding access, and fostering deeper engagement across our campuses.”
Beginning December 1, BibliU assumed full management of both campus stores, including support for Spokane Colleges’ rural and satellite locations. Under BibliU’s hybrid retail model, students students gain access to a streamlined, consistent retail experience featuring:
This approach ensures students can easily access what they need—whether they’re learning on campus, off campus, or remotely—while maintaining a strong campus presence and reliable service across all locations.
“Spokane Colleges stand out because they’re all about guiding students forward,” said Dave Sherwood, CEO and Co-founder of BibliU. “The Ponderosa Pine and the Spokane Falls in their identity aren’t just symbols—they reflect resilience, progress, and the journey every student is on. We’re proud to support that mission by managing both campus stores and helping students get what they need to succeed.”
This partnership represents a meaningful step forward for Spokane Colleges, strengthening affordability, improving access, and modernizing the way students engage with course materials and resources they need throughout the year.
